What is Garcinia Cambogia?

Garcinia Cambogia (GC) is a small green pumpkin-looking fruit originally from India and Southeast Asia that has been used for health support and specifically as a digestive aid for thousands of years. The effective compound in Garcinia Cambogia is a derivative of citric acid called hydrocycitric acid (HCA).

There are two main ways HCA effects weight loss. HCA has been shown in several studies including a major 2016 South Korean study* to inhibit an enzyme called ATP Citrate Lyase. ATP Citrate Lyase is an enzyme that helps to form the building blocks of fatty acids, triglycerides and cholesterol by promoting the conversion of carbs to fats. When this enzyme is inhibited, the process of carbohydrate oxidation is boosted which means excess carbs are burned off and changed into energy which is called thermogenesis.

The second way that HCA effects weight loss is by raising the level of the brain chemical serotonin. This in turn effects the hypothalamus, which is the part of the brain that tells us when we are hungry and when we are full. Contrary to what you might think, it is not our stomach which tells us when we are full and should stop eating. The hypothalamus receives signals from 'pleasure pathways' in the brain that use serotonin, as well as other hormones as messengers. Basically the increase in serotonin enhances mood which in turn reduces stress related eating.

Our recommendation is that you don't overuse the product. Use it with other natural metabolic stimulators like CBD. Because these products are natural they don't mess with your central nervous system as do many chemical stimulants often found in weight loss products. Use it at dinner which is typically the largest and latest meal, and therefore the meal you really want to minimize. Eat something such as a banana when you first get up to fire up the system so to speak. For breakfast and lunch it is recommended to eat grains, lots of fruit and vegetables (5 servings/day of each) and using greek yoghurt.
